Peer pressure

 Luke 23:1-4

The Jewish leaders wanted Jesus dead but they had no authority to kill someone so they went to the court that did but this time around Pilate heard Jesus's response "you say I am" not "I am" so Pilate says he finds Him innocent.  Yet, Pilate knew that wouldn't be enough for the mob at his door so he looked for a way out and discovered He a Galilean.

This is a classic story of peer pressure.  What do you do when the majority is wrong! Do we look for a way out?  Do we take a stand?  Do we crumble under pressure?  Lord Jesus, please give us wisdom when the majority are wrong.  Show us how to stand up for what is right in Your eyes.  Amen.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
