God in the chaos
This passage can cause great fear amongst the people. It's describing an awful time here on earth. It goes from the disciples observing how beautiful the temple is to war and destruction yet Jesus is there. Describing the situation ahead of time so it's not a shock when it comes. The beautiful temple will be destroyed. (it was destroyed on the 9th/10t of AV, 70 CE.) Yet Jesus warns us not to follow others claiming to be Him. He also tells the disciples they will be arrested but not to worry; He will give them the words to say and it will allow them to testify to those in authority. He says they will be protected if they stand firm. Jerusalem will be trampled on until the time of the Gentiles (Is it now, given that the USA declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel?) Jesus also says when the tough times come He will come. So let us stand firm.
27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
Lord Jesus, please help us to stand firm for You. Amen
