Strong words

 Luke:16:16-18

We sing "I am not under law but under grace" and here we read that the law stopped at John; yet we need laws to function as a society.  Many of our laws have been based on scripture like "thou shall not steal, thou shall not commit adultery, thou shall not murder..." and here we have scripture  giving the implications of divorce.  These are strong words when we want to do our own thing but God made us and knows what is best for us so we need to analyze the laws He gave so we can live a happy, purpose filled life under grace.  Jesus didn't advocate a free for all, He advocated a partnership with God where the Holy Spirit helps us to do what is right in His sight.  Lord Jesus, give us the wisdom to live a happy and fulfilling life in Your Kingdom, under your grace, with the wisdom of Your laws. Amen

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
