Preparing for the worst

 Luke 18:31-34

Jesus is preparing His disciples for the worst day.  The day He is killed.  They don't know it though so they don't understand...but the seed is planted for them to remember.  "on the third day he will rise".  Have you ever journaled what God is saying to you but you just didn't get it?...then you re-read the journal and it was obvious.  This happened to me once.  I journaled for a month or two and really wasn't getting anything specific but then I re-read the journal and I could tell God was speaking to me on obedience all along!  Lord Jesus, please open our eyes to the truths you want us to see and help us to have the courage to obey You.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
