The Cost

 Luke 14:25-35

This is a tough passage.  Jesus is saying it costs something to be a Christian.  Sure there is a banquet and the reward of heaven and the help of the Holy Spirit but it costs everything. You can't serve two masters or you will love one and hate the other.  Jesus wants all of us including our relationships with our family.  Lord Jesus, if there is anything we're holding back from You please let us know and give us the courage to surrender it to You knowing that You make all things beautiful in Your time.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
