The women

 Luke 8:1-3

This passage is fascinating because it implies that it was women who were supporting Jesus ministry. In Jesus day women didn’t have much status in the world so it’s interesting that they had the means to support Him. It’s also interesting to read that one of them had been demon possessed. In other words Jesus allowed the marginalized to support Him. We too must allow the least expected to support the ministry of the Kingdom. Lord Jesus, as we look around our sphere of influence help us to be inclusive in Your ministry.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
