The unhealthy need a doctor

 Luke 5:27-32

Have you ever thought about who Jesus hung around?  The temple leaders did and they observed He hung around tax collectors and sinners.  This observation went to the disciples and ultimately to Jesus and He responded “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”  Does this change the way you look at who you hang around?  Jesus engaged in two way relationships with the folks He wanted to reach.  Jesus invited Levi to follow Him then Levi, a tax collector, threw a party and Jesus and His disciples attended.  Lord Jesus, help us to form two way relationships with those You want to reach for Your Kingdom.  Teach us how to be agents of healing and give us the courage to be part of the solution.  Open our eyes to see where You are working and how we can help.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
