The Sabbath

 Luke 6:1-11

This is an interesting portion of scripture as Jesus lets His disciples break one of the 10 commandants as determined by the leaders in the temple.  Jesus was trying to teach the purpose of the law.  For me the sabbath rest is a blessing.  We have a well needed excuse to take a break from our daily routines but if it's carried too far it becomes an enslaving rule. How are you doing in obeying the 10 commandants?  Do we respect God for who He is?  Jesus did a wonderful job of summing up the law "Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and mind and love your neighbour as yourself"

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
