Old and new

Luke 5:35-39 

This is an interesting passage.  Jesus is preparing His disciples for something new yet in the end He says people prefer the old.  I see the old versus the new challenges between generations so I find it a blessing when a congregation is filled with folks of all generations.  In reading this passage it seems to me that it's okay to stick with your own generation and not mix the generations but it's also important to have room for the new generation so the "new wine" can be kept.  God is a creative God and so it's obvious that He is about producing new things; Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage the younger generation from going deeper with You.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
