Jesus' temptation #2

Luke 4:5-8
This temptation is interesting. Jesus didn't argue with satan saying the world didn't belong to him. Instead he quoted from Deut 6:13 "Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.". This tells me three things. 1) Satan does have power on earth...thus all the suffering; 2) we must fight with the word of God 3) We must serve God as opposed to satan or any of satans distractions. I also find it interesting that the quote Jesus quoted is near His quote from His first temptation. It's like God has given Him a quiet time that has prepared Him for the temptations of the day. Lord Jesus, help us to be aware that this world is not our home; we're on a battle field with Your enemy; so please show us how to fight and help us to be prepared for the battle.

If you're up you will come down

  Luke 6:25   I find these teachings of Jesus interesting.  He seems to be saying if you're up you will come down but if you're down you will go up.  Is He saying life is full of it's ups and downs so recognize that when you're up be careful because you will come down?  Lord Jesus, help us to appreciate our ups knowing that with every up there is a down. Thanks.

Our neighbour

  Luke 10:29-37 During this year of covid we've been forced to slow down.  I'm wondering if it's helping us to see our neighbours in need.  Lord Jesus, please help us not to be so busy going about Your work we miss seeing our neighbours in need.
