Anna

Luke 2:36-38

Anna had been a widow/single most of her life. She was a prophet which meant she spoke on behalf of God and she worshipped and prayed most of the day. This praying included fasting. When she saw Jesus she knew He was special and gave thanks to God. She also mentioned Him when folks spoke of the redemption of Jerusalem. So Jesus' calling was affirmed by two people at the temple; Simeon and Anna. But this affirmation was for His parents as He was just a baby at the time.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
