Zechariah's song

 Luke 1:67-79


Like Mary Zechariah had a time of praise in regard to what was going on and in doing so he also prophesied.


He(God in the form of Jesus) has come.  He will:

  • Redeem
  • Raise up a King of Salvation (Salvation from our enemies and those who hate us)
  • Show mercy
  • Remember the holy covenant He made with Abraham
  • Enable us to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness

And John will
  • be a prophet of the most High
  • go before the Lord and prepare the way for Him
  • give people the knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of their sins
  • guide our feet in the path of peace

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
