Jesus

 Luke 1:31-33

He will be great (it's 2020 for some reason today! :-))

and will be called the Son of the Most High (the son of God)

The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David (people will revere Him like they revered David, his Father was a descendant of David and maybe Mary too)

and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever (this is trickier as people have a choice to accept Jesus as their Lord but He certainly wants to be Lord of the people of Jacob's descendants...like it use to be without a King)

his kingdom will never end (He rose from the dead so He has power over death so His Kingdom will remain for all eternity)

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
