When your friends can't even pray

 Luke 22:45-46

One of the fruit of the Spirit is self-control yet I ask; do we have it?  In Jesus hardest time His disciples couldn't even stay awake to pray with Him. Yet, in Jesus disappointment, He didn't rebuke them but instead He taught them that they should pray so they don't enter into temptation.  Lord Jesus, help us to live in a state of prayer so we may not enter into temptation (gluttony, pride, selfishness...).  Fill us with Your Spirit so we see the fruit of self control, patience, love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, goodness and faithfulness (Gal 5:22-23) growing in our lives.

Herod

  Luke 23:8-12 This passage says a lot about Herod.  First of all he wanted to see Jesus because he had heard about Him.  Herod was hoping Jesus would perform a miracle for him but Jesus wasn't going to be played.  Jesus didn't answer Herod's questions and His accusers seemed to be heard by Herod so Herod started to mock Jesus but Herod didn't find anything wrong with him.  Herod sent Him back to Pilate,,,and what is interesting is Herod and Pilate became friends that day. Lord Jesus, when satan sends the mockers help us to be wise and know when to speak and when not to speak.  Give us the courage to stand for what is right, in Your time and way. Amen.

Fringe folk

  Luke 9:49-50 Have you ever noticed some non-church goers are amazing people, doing amazing things?  Jesus says, if they're not against us they're for us.  Lord Jesus, help us not to discourage people who are on the fringes of the church.  Help us see how they are helping in Your Kingdom and celebrate their goodness.
